Tea for Two

Over the weekend, I walked into the playroom to see Nora having a tea party with her daddy.
It very well could have been one of the cutest things I've ever seen. I love these two so much.
People always say that men want sons. They want boys for the rough and tumble, the dirt, the sports, the toughness. There are some who would say they don't know what to do with a girl.
And when I look back at these photos and see how happy it made her, it tells me that as she navigates her way through her childhood, playing with her daddy--these are the things that, as an adult, she will remember and appreciate about her father. It is the little things.
Like tea for two.
There are men out there who would refuse to--or would at least be embarrassed to--sit at a miniature table with their daughters to enjoy a spot of imaginary tea. Mine happily sat down for tea with his baby girl. Then, he not only let me take photos, but he said I could share them, too.

My son doesn't have a daddy... She has no idea how lucky she is.

Christmas week I found Dominic sitting in Kira's new princess castle tent playing with her & her new little people dollhouse...my heart melted. It's always Daddy & their little girls.

LOVE. J got the same toy and is obsessed. Every morning it's "here, Momma" *get handed a cup*. Then "dink" (drink). Then "cake?". Handed cakes. So cute. I love them sitting at the little table :)
@Anonymous--She doesn't yet, but she will some day. I'm sorry for your son's circumstance, but surely he's lucky to have you. <3
@Tara--So sweet! I think that *most* men (the good ones, anyway!) do play happily with their little girls. Some of them just can't picture themselves until after their daughter is born--then it's all over, because we all know girls wrap their daddies around their fingers. :)
@Megan--She's had the tea set (and loved it!) since last Christmas. Well, she didn't start playing with it until around six months old, but she's loved it since then. She gets such a huge kick out of it when we pretend to drink from the cups. She has started pretending herself, too. My favorite is how she pours the tea--she turns the pot completely upside down. Needless to say, it'll be a while before we let her pretend with some water. :)
This is adorable! So glad my daughter is lucky enough to also have a father who is happy to have tea with her as well :)
she looks so stinking happy in the last picture, it kills me! I love seeing daddy's that are so hands on. My hubby is the same way with our son and it melts my heart.

It's so funny to me to think that I commented on this blog on the morning of my wedding, and now I can reveal (to no-one in particular!) that we have something exciting *hopefully, barring awful occurences that I don't want to contemplate* happening in August 2012 (not even our parents know yet! but it's easier to reveal to those you don't 'know') and I think that my husband will be the same way as Michael... we are very lucky indeed. For what it's worth, whilst of course he wants and would love a child of either sex, DH really wants a girl!
Yay for Nora and Michael - that bond will grow and grow, and it's beautiful. Thank you for sharing!

@Vanessa--THAT IS AMAZING! Congratulations! I am so excited that I am one of the first to know. :) Michael wanted a girl first, too, but I think we'd both like to have at least one of each if we could. But like you say, you fully enjoy and appreciate what you end up with. You really can't go wrong! I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy.
@Amy--The tea set is so great. It sings, and the songs are so catchy. We sometimes catch ourselves walking around the house singing them. It's addicting. And it makes little sound effects for pouring. Adorable. The table and chairs set is from BRU/TRU. We ordered it online, but picked it up in-store to avoid the shipping fees (it's not an item that qualifies for free shipping, even if your order total is over the minimum for free shipping). Locally, they carried it in both our TRU and BRU stores. Here is a link. Watch the price on it, it fluctuates a lot. We got it when it was on sale for around $72 a few weeks before Christmas.

That is so sweet! My husband is also a great Dad. He took our youngest, who is 14, out on a date! They went out to lunch and shopping. My girls are so lucky to have such a great Dad.
