"Do Not" Christmas Playlist

One of the best things about Christmastime is the non-stop Christmas music.
There are XM/Sirius satellite radio stations dedicated solely to the season. There are Pandora internet radio stations with which you can celebrate Christmas 24/7. Even one of our local radio stations gives up all other music to play just Christmas tunes throughout the month of December.
I love all of this. I think it's awesome.
Except... well, except...
There are some really BAD Christmas songs. Like, seriously bad.
There are Christmas songs so bad, in fact, that I'd rather scrape out my own ear drums than listen to them. I think everybody has at least one Christmas song for which they feel this way.
My LEAST favorite? The worst of the worst in my mind?
Dominick the Donkey.

I've never posted on here before but I've been reading your blog for a while. Today is the first day I can say I whole heartedly disagree with you. Dominick the Donkey is probably my most favorite holiday song (maybe b/c I'm Italian?). I'd say the worst song is something I heard by Britney Spears the other day. Couldn't even tell you the name b/c I had to shut it off.
This is my first post too but I do read your blog regularly. I also have to disagree. I love Dominick!
I hate Hey Santa! By the Wilson Sisters. And pretty muh anything that was recorded post 1970. Except Hanson. They have an awesome Christmas CD.

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas....hands down. It's cute but I can't listen to the WHOLE THING on the radio. Also, at least while I'm at work, I don't appreciate every other song being all lovey-dovey Christmas. But I like the classics at heart :)
I have an ornament that plays the Hippopotamus song. I love it :)
My least favorite is Last Christmas by Wham and Same old Lang Syne by Dan Fogelberg. I turn the channel when they both come on.
Hippo - absolutely hate it!! Last year I got a thingy that plays the hippo song in a white elephant gift exchange and threatened to kill whoever brought it! One of my husband's favorite xmas song is Dominick the Donkey - I had never heard it before I met him and I have to admit, I secretly love it!
Morgan - I also hate "Hey Santa" by Wilson Phillips... Gag.
Have you ever heard Santa Claus is rocking like a boogie woogie choo choo train? Or something like that. Its a bad remake of an already bad country song. Makes me want to rip my ears off.
Dominick the Donkey is probably one of my favorites as well!
My least favorite would be Happy Christmas (War is Over) by John Lennon. And it seems like it's in constant rotation on our local station.
I hate the christmas shoes song, it always makes me cry!
There's this one song called Christmas Even In Washington that I absolutely can't stand. I have no idea if they play it just because I live in the DC area, or if this has become a nation-wide thing (I hope not!), but it's terrible. I switch it off whenever it comes on!
I cannot believe there isn't anyone who agrees with me about Dominick! That song is freakin' AWFUL, people! :)
The hippo song can be annoying but I can tolerate it. Especially after I found out the story behind it (someone wrote it to raise money to get a hippo at their local zoo).
A couple of my favorites are "O Holy Night" (pretty much any version), and Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You."

Shauna--I have not heard the song you're referring to. Judging from the title, I'm pretty sure I'm grateful.
Jenn--Christmas Shoes is pretty bad, too. It's like, way to put me in the Christmas spirit by depressing the hell out of me.
Jen--Don't think I know that one, either. Maybe it is played only in the D.C. area!
I guess I am out of the Christmas song loop since I have never heard this donkey song. :-) But I love Christmas music and HATE anything sung by the Chipmunks. Also - I think I heard the Britney Spears song Caren mentioned. Yuck!
Well, I'm African-American and there is a song that comes on the radio non-stop. It's something like "Santa Claus is a Black Man". It's not so much the title of the song, but the little girl/boy that sings it. It's HORRIBLE!!! I shut it off each and everytime it comes on. My husband laughs at me, but it's the absolute worse xmas song ever!
I don't know what the actual title of the song is, but I hate the "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart..." song. It's awful!!!
I have to agree with Mrs. D on the chipmunks songs. Geez - those songs make me want to drive into a tree!

This is also my first time to post. I found your Road to the Aisle blog when we were planning our wedding (six months of marriage, this past Sunday, YAY!)and got a lot of ideas. Thanks! I have been reading this blog for a little while, and have tried some of the recipes you have posted.
My least favorite Christmas song is "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." Also, the "Last Christmas" song is being way over played here.
Personally, I like the more traditional Christmas carols, like O Holy Night and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
Heather, I wholeheartedly agree with you on the Donkey song... HATE it, and I'm growing rather tired of the Chipmunks as well.
I would have to agree with almost ALL of these... I hate Dominick, mostly because I find myself hee - hawing throughout the day and being caught by my co-workers.
I like the Wham song, though... call me crazy!!!

I hadn't ever heard "Fairytale of New York" by the Pogues and Kirsty MacColl until I moved to the UK, but I find it hilarious! Definitely a favourite now.
