Hair Chop

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

Well, I told you I was going to do it. And I followed through.

Today was the day. I officially chopped my hair.

(Before, and after. Pardon my cheesy self-portraits in the mirror. And it's a weird coincidence I wore red shirts two days in a row. Don't mind me and my matchy-matchiness.)

I must say, I'm loving it. When I first sat down and he chopped off the ponytail, it was like I immediately felt lighter! Amazing. Then I got my highlights, and sacrificed another inch or two to styling. And tada! Final product. It feels so weird to run my hands through it. It's going to feel even weirder to wash it tomorrow morning.

Here's me with my ponytail (I think he ended up cutting between 8" and 9" off) for donation:

ETA: I'm donating to Children With Hair Loss. It was the only organization I could find that would take highlighted hair. If you're interested in donating your hair, check out this website. It provides the summary of requirements for all of the organizations that collect hair. The most popular ones are Locks of Love and Pantene's Beautiful Lengths. There is also Wigs for Kids, but they require at least 12" of hair (and also don't allow highlighted hair)!

Anyway...

I was ready for a change, and well, I got one!

I wonder if they're going to recognize me at work tomorrow...

Looks great - I love it! I did the post-wedding chop about a year ago and I loved that "light" feeling!

Cute girl cute haircut! The shorter bobs are a cute and sexy hairstyle for summer. As fashion goes it looks like short hair and variations of it will still be around for quite a while. Speaking of cute bobs… I was showed a girl the other day who used that DIY product at http://www.cutabob.com and I kid you not the haircut looked nearly identical as one done at our salon. Go figure?

Thanks, everybody!

Nicole--I went back and edited the post to include details about where I'm donating, but I'll answer here, too. I'm donating to Children With Hair Loss because they were the only organization I could find that would accept highlighted hair. To see a list of the organizations that collect hair, and the requirements for each, I found this website to be extremely helpful. Hope that helps, and good luck with your haircut!

I really like it!! I bet it's so much easier for you to deal with. When I came into work on Monday (chopped my hair off on Sunday) a bunch of people didn't realize it was me and had to do a double take, but everyone really loved it. Did that happen to you too?

Looks great! When my hair gets long, it is just out of control and I can't do anything with it. A new, fresh haircut feels amazing and is always uplifting! Enjoy!

I love chopping my hair off and changing the style...you totally do feel lighter immediately, and it's fabulous, especially during the summer!
