Baby Pool & Vintage Apron Giveaway

Monday, July 26, 2010

The time has arrived! At 32 weeks pregnant with only 8 (maybe?) weeks to go, it is time to announce the start of the Heather Drive Baby Pool. And, we figure that a contest surrounding the birth of our baby is the perfect time to do our very first giveaway. In other words, if you make the best guesses? There are *prizes* to be won. :)

So here's the deal: Hop on over to our Heather Drive Baby Pool page on and enter your guesses for our baby's sex, birth date and time, weight, and length. We'll leave it open to new entries until 9:00 p.m. EDT on Sunday, August 22, at which point the contest will be closed. (I'll be 36 weeks pregnant at that time.) Then, all we do is wait for the baby to be born. After that, I'll enter the baby's stats into the system, and will determine a winner based on all of your entries.

Now you're probably wondering what you might win, right? Well, you're in luck because it is super cute, people. Etsy seller Terrace Hill has agreed to sponsor this contest, and she's offering one of her vintage aprons to the Heather Drive Baby Pool winner. Not only that, but I'm throwing in a copy of this Martha Stewart's Cupcakes book. So you'll have something to bake up in the kitchen AND you'll look cute while doing it!

How cute? Well, just take a look at some of these Terrace Hill aprons...

Every girl needs an apron, right? Gah, there are so many adorable ones that it is difficult to choose a favorite! Click on over to Terrace Hill's Etsy shop and take a look around, as the aprons are affordable and make unique gifts! And if you don't end up winning the pool, perhaps you'll still want to treat yourself. ;) Also consider becoming a fan of Terrace Hill Shop on Facebook so that you will be notified when new designs are added to the shop!

A couple of important things to note:

1) You do NOT need to register to enter a guess with, so no worries. It is super simple! Enter on our Heather Drive Baby Pool page.

2) When you enter through, YOU MUST ENTER A VALID E-MAIL ADDRESS in the "A phrase or two describing how you know the parents" field. Otherwise, we will have no way of validating who "Karen" or "Anne" is and will have no way of contacting you to let you know you have won.

3) If you are determined to be the winner, you will work directly with Chadley at Terrace Hill to arrange shipment of your apron. Also, you must choose among Terrace Hill's current stock of aprons at the time of the contest's official end (i.e. when you are notified).

4) Only one entry per person, please. Duplicate entries will be deleted.

5) Make sure to enter a guess for ALL of the fields (sex, birthday, time, weight, height), otherwise you will be hurting your chances at winning!

6) The contest is open to all, whether you live here in the U.S., or outside of it. My international readers are more than welcome to participate! :)

7) Again, all entries MUST be entered into the system by Sunday, August 22 at 9 p.m. EDT. The contest will be closed to entries at that time.

8) You'll notice that Michael and I have entered our own guesses. We are just as clueless as all of you (we don't even have any "feelings" about the sex of the baby), so we thought it would be fun to venture guesses of our own. However, please rest assured that we are NOT eligible to win.

Questions? Please ask in the comments. Also, if you just HAVE to know whether my pillow faces north or south in order to make your guesses, ask those types of things in the comments as well. ;)I'll answer everything in the comments so everyone is privy to the same information!

A few basics: The due date calculated by my doctor's office is September 18. The due date calculated based on my ovulation chart is September 19. I was 10 days early, and Michael was born on his due date. (Supposedly this stuff is supposed to help? HA!)

We look forward to your participation and seeing all of the entries come rolling in. Happy guessing!

Jessica from MI and Jessica from London--I need e-mail addresses, girls! :) I just want to make sure I have a way to contact you should you win. I know you can't go back and edit your entries, but as the administrator, I can, so if you want to leave your e-mail addresses here in the comments, or e-mail them to me at, I can add them in for you. Hope you see this, and thanks! :)

Amy July 26, 2010 at 9:16 AM

Oh shucks...I forgot to put my email address (The Nifty Foodie) :\ Sorry about that!

Heather July 26, 2010 at 9:17 AM

No problem, Amy. I've got you covered! :)

Crystal July 26, 2010 at 10:13 AM

Of course I'm an idiot and forgot to put my email in under the baby poll. I don't know if you can edit anything on there but it's just in case I win. Sorry!

Heather July 26, 2010 at 10:14 AM

Got you, Crystal! No worries. :)

basebell6 July 26, 2010 at 10:56 AM

I love that both you and your hubby guessed girl!! I can't wait to see if your gut feeling is right :). They did something like this for me on and the winner got a pumpkin seed from the world record pumpkin(LOL). I would much rather have the apron!!!!! ;)

Heather July 26, 2010 at 11:04 AM

Basebell--We don't really have any instincts (we're horrible parents, haha) about the baby's sex. Instead, we are allowing ourselves to be influenced by all of the people around us! The majority of our family and friends seem to believe that this baby is a girl, and some of them are completely CONVINCED of it... so we're kind of thinking, "Hmm, must be!" :) But we'll see, I'm on the fence, I think it would be hilarious if baby came out as a boy and it turned out everyone was 100% wrong!

Meghan July 26, 2010 at 1:28 PM

How much did each of you weigh at birth? You would be surprised how much that has to do with your baby!

Elise July 26, 2010 at 1:32 PM

This is such an exciting pool! And so very "you" prizes :)

You can delete the duplicate entry I made, I totally forgot my email the first time.

Heather July 26, 2010 at 1:55 PM

Meghan--I weighed 7 lbs., 3 oz. at birth. We're not 100% on Michael, but I *think* I remember seeing he weighed in at a little over 8 lbs. We're going to have to ask about that one! :)

Elise--Duplicate entry deleted. Not a problem. And thanks, I think this is very exciting, too!

Jenn and Neena Mae July 26, 2010 at 2:42 PM

I guessed a girl and I'm usually right! But, I have been known to be wrong a few times. :-)

Vanessa July 26, 2010 at 3:26 PM

How fun! I put in my guess... totally random! I wouldn't have a feeling either if it were me, I'm sure of it! How exciting!

Meghan July 26, 2010 at 7:32 PM

Oops I forgot to also ask, How tall are you guys?

Tonya July 26, 2010 at 8:05 PM

Tonya and Caren--Got you guys! Thanks for letting me know! :)

Kylee Wall July 26, 2010 at 10:44 PM

1 - Those aprons are adorable. I need one before fall baking.

2 - Wow you have a lot of readers! That's awesome.

This is Miranda Lear. I just made a guess on the baby pool and forgot to put my email address. It is I think it double entries as well. The first entry of just Miranda is the incorrect. I'm so sorry! This is not so easy to do on an I-phone. Congrats and i can't wait to find out!!

Carrie,  July 27, 2010 at 10:49 AM

I had to leave 2 because I forgot to put my email address the first time and also I forgot to change the time.

Heather July 27, 2010 at 11:53 AM

Kylee--I know, I love them! And yes, I guess it takes a good giveaway (and a baby!) to get people to come out of the woodwork. Loving the participation from so many! :)

Miranda and Carrie--I went in and deleted your duplicate entries. You're all set!

Jessica,  September 11, 2010 at 9:01 AM
